Watch our university partners' experience
This video was made in Medellin, Colombia during a group site visit. Each year we host approximately 10-12 university professionals on a site visit to one of our internship destinations, so that you can learn more about how our programs will meet your students’ needs. If you’re interested in attending future site visits, ask your representative.

Health & safety
Our interns’ health and wellbeing are our top priorities. As an organization that promotes international experiences, we understand that while it is exciting for interns to move to a new city, it is also essential for them to be aware of the various cultural differences they may face. We prepare our interns as much as possible for these cultural differences by providing them with a welcome pack at the start of their program and 24/7 support from our local staff.
Our in country staff in each destination are comprehensively trained to ensure the safety of your students during their time on the program. Our crisis management procedure has been custom-designed by Control Risks, and our staff are regularly trained and retrained on it.
We act upon recommendations from the U.S. Department of State’s travel warnings, UK Government, local law enforcement in our overseas destinations, NAFSA and the World Health Organization. In addition, we have implemented a worldwide policy for the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH), based on the high standards which the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) developed in order to protect students traveling abroad.

I was able to connect with staff from The Intern Group office in Medellin, meet with partner companies, attend an alumni event and see a little bit of the city as well as where our students would live. I was really impressed, not only with the high level of support and service that interns receive from staff in the Medellin office, but the very positive relationships they have developed with the companies they work with. There is a clear sense of mutual benefit. Interns are given valuable projects and tasks to undertake which, importantly, develop their skills and allow them to learn about the world of work in an international context, but also adds real benefit to the host company. Companies genuinely welcomed the fresh insight of interns and what they could bring to the organisation.
